We are one of the leading providers of ARRI multi-camera solutions, offering full OB style production but with the unique large sensor, cinematic look. Operators have familiar broadcast lens control, and vision supervisors can rack the cameras in exactly the same way as on a traditional OB.

Cinematic channels can be used with our flypacks, trucks or remote production facilities. Whether working with one or twenty cameras, our bespoke system provides full camera control, including tally, return vision and comms, whether as an HD, HDR or 4K workflow.

Our approach

Our aim is to make working in cinematic as smooth and pleasurable an experience as possible. Whilst from an engineering perspective there are many different process involved, we take care of these behind the scenes so operator and production team can focus on the content.

Cinematic Lenses

Depending on the brief and the budget, there are a number of creative decisions around lens choice and grip. The most cost effective way is to use lenses with built-in motors (like a traditional broadcast lens) but these bring their own look and feel. The preferred option is to use cinematic lenses such as Angénieux, which we then add motors to, so that they work in the live environment. This does add around 20% to the overall budget but you really feel the benefit.

Cinematic and Grip

When it comes to grip, the choice is very similar to traditional broadcast - only the overall camera package is slightly heavier than HD/4K camera channels. One way around this is that we generally recommend ARRI Alexa Mini systems for grip like cablecam, jibs, Furio, Agito and towercams. Whilst this does add costs, it also enables more flexibility with the grip.

We usually use standard broadcast grip support such as Ospreys, Quattros and Vinten Vector heads which TV camera operators are familiar with, as opposed to O’Connor heads and film grip - but we are happy to supply either.
